This tutorial was completely revised early in 2006 when the entire site was rewritten and updated. Additional minor corrections to the interactive diagrams were made in 2008. Comments, suggestions and advice are welcomed
The interactive acid-base diagram was completely rewritten to eliminate minor errors which had appeared as the Java language matured. New sections on Strong Ion Difference and Anion Gap were added. The old picture index page was removed and replaced with the "IV Pole index" on each page. Fresh art work has been added and there are new links and references.
The light-hearted approach has been retained. Not because the subject isn't treated seriously - it is. But, I hope that the injection of a little wit and irreverence may brighten your day.
In November 2006, the staff of the AAMC MedEdPORTAL granted approval for the website to be listed in their archives. This approval was obtained after the website was modified in the light of their suggestions to include more material about the treatment of metabolic disorders. .
